The New Year!

Hello again,

It is the start of a New Year and I wish everyone a very happy beginning and many more.

The experience of interacting with the muggles these past few days have been rather intriguing. They are really no different from magical folk! I have to start documenting some of these interactions (I am thinking of writing a book on this just to educate those magical folk with the pure blood mentality).

I suppose it is in one's nature to be proud of one's lineage, the muggles do have some fascinating history that is similar to the pure blood mentality, which resulted in war. But such topics shall be left to future entries.

The celebrations for the new year is almost as extravagant as Christmas! With fireworks exploding into the sky, the music blasting from those black things called speakers, the crowd dancing, strangers hugging and shaking hands. It does seem that any such major holidays tend to bond muggles together and that's something else that is similar to us, magical folk.

But as the saying goes, good things must come to an end. I'll be heading back to Hogwarts soon and leaving the muggle world behind, but rest assured, I'll be back as soon as I can. For now, I have got some packing to do and with that, I wish you all a very good year ahead, may the peace and joy fill your homes and the magic never cease!

It's Christmas!

Hello again,

It's Christmas day today and here is wishing all a merry Christmas and an enjoyable holiday!

Because it is the holidays, many of the students have gone home to celebrate with their families and very few remain behind in the school. I took the opportunity to go to the muggle world during the weekend to see what new things are happening.

So, first off, I realized that someone has been knowledgeable about hobbits and the lore behind them. A movie (which is something like our pictures except that it starts at a certain point, goes on telling the story for a few hours and then just stops) just came out about them. I have to say, it has represented the legend pretty well. Even the actor (a person that pretends to be someone else) that is depicting Gandalf looks very much like the real person. I have to bring a muggle picture (it doesn't move! Like the one below.) back to Middle Earth to show him.

Anyway, I have seen the movie and I must say it is pretty accurate to the likeness of the characters but there are some minor details that have been changed. Perhaps this form of story telling isn't told for accuracy but for the entertainment of muggles. It is rather interesting to learn that muggles seem to crave the imaginary and gain much satisfaction from going to one of these story sharing sessions called movies.

This is a highly recommended movie to watch, not only because it shows rather accurately the lands of Middle Earth, but the understanding of the events of lore is important for muggles to know about. It is a part of my history and I am proud that it is being shared to others. Bilbo would have loved to know that his story is being told to so many and I would travel to the Undying Lands if it wasn't somehow preventing apparation and access of port keys. It takes too long to travel by the ships and I would be missing some classes at Hogwarts (that's always bad). I give it 4 rings out of 5.

Before I leave, here is a video that I found to be rather entertaining (I've got to remember to ask Hermione what "shots" are). The Hobbit: An Unexpected Parody by the Hillywood Show.
Hope you magical folk and muggles enjoy!

As always, leave a comment and let me know what you think! Merry Christmas!

It's not the end.

Hello from the muggle world,

It appears the prediction of the end of the world is false because we are still here!

It is an interesting mechanism, how the muggle world copes with the unknown by creating and unfortunately believing in some of these imaginations. I'm pretty sure the Minister of Magic would be very interested to know and perhaps could help advice the muggle minister.

Well, moving pass that, I am currently touring the muggle world and observing how muggles behave during the Christmas holidays and I must say they do act like us. They buy gifts for love ones, the stores are often filled to the brim with muggles and for those magical folk who wonder, the conversion is 1 Galleon is to 5 Pounds and about 10 Dollars. I have included a link (below the image) for those who are curious to find out about other types of currencies.

I have been enjoying myself in the muggle world. They have this thing called room service (which is a little like the house elves if you will) that brings up items that you have requested though the telephone. The telephone is another thing that's rather interesting. It's a little like using the Floo powder and the Floo network except you don't see the person you are talking to, only voices appear to be transmitted. So, you use the telephone to order food or other items that you require and these muggles deliver them to your room. I am honestly amazed at how these muggles work around not being able conjure magic.

Ah! While waiting for my dinner, I have found out about this thing called YouTube. It is a collection of shorter movies. I do not understand some of them but Hermione has told me that anyone can post videos (that's what they call our pictures, but it isn't in a loop like ours, it has a start and stop like movies) there. Anyone! I am thinking of putting some stuff up there but that would require some learning of the video recorder (the thing used to make the video) and the navigation of the YouTube. As they say, you are never too old to learn.

Here is one of those videos on YouTube to get you in the mood for Christmas. Enjoy!

The First Post aka Introduction

Hello all,

Welcome to my very first post!

Who am I and what am I doing?

Well, I am Lord Severus. I am a very bored professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry teaching Understanding the lure of the Dark Arts. In my spare time, I am often seen roaming the lands of Middle Earth and am known to some as Severus the Black.

However, in the recent years, my spare time has increased tremendously due to the peace that is carried on in both worlds, which is why I am constantly finding things to do. I have just recently exhausted the avenue of playing wizards chess with the Bloody Baron (he is a pretty violent opponent) and exploring the tunnels of the Chambers of Secrets. Even in the land of Middle Earth, I am finding so much peace and merry making that visiting the lands of Mordor has become a Halloween tradition among the races of Men (People are dressing up as Mrs. Eye of Sauron).

So, here I am, in my office, overlooking the black lake (a pretty nice view I have to admit) trying for the first time this thing called a laptop. It's a muggle invention (yes, I have been so bored, that I've gone to the muggle department and started learning more about their stuff) and Hermione has been a great help in understanding the use of such novelties. I might bring some of these to Middle Earth, we'll see. Anyway, I have decided to start this thing called blogging (?) to pass my time and I hope that whoever is reading this would not start flaming (fascinating word) because I am after all rather new at this.

Oh, Gandalf the White has been very supportive of my learning the arts of a new sort of race and he is very interested to know what I have uncovered and so is the Minister of Magic. But, as all good things must come to an end, I have to go now because my next class is in the dungeons and I can't apparate in Hogwarts so I hope whoever is reading this will come to enjoy the things that would be coming up here soon.

Leave a comment and let me know if this is the correct way of interacting with muggles, share it with other magical folk and muggles! I would love to have your opinions.

Farewell,
Lord Severus
